Goodman GRVM97
GRVM97 is the modulating Goodman family in the current reviewed catalog. It combines a variable-speed circulating blower with equipment-based ComfortBridge controls. The manufacturer specification distinguishes the upflow or horizontal GR model from the downflow GD model. A quote using the older GMVM97 name should not be assumed to describe the same generation.

Capacity and installation fit
The GRVM97 sheet lists high-fire inputs of 60,000,80,000,100,000 and 120,000 BTU/h, with more than one80,000 blower package. For the smallest reviewed unit, the manufacturer lists58,200 BTU/h high-fire output and 29,100 low-fire output. Ask how that operating range relates to the house rather than judging the furnace by its largest available size.
Compare the proposal, not just the badge
Goodman’s Canada MAP workbook lists GRVM97 equipment figures of 3,945–5,375 across the reviewed sizes. These are minimum advertised figures, with currency not explicitly labelled in the examined table, and are not installed quotes. Use them to identify the exact equipment being discussed; obtain a separate, itemized Canadian-dollar installation proposal.
Evidence to request before purchase
For the GRVM97, keep the complete suffix and the dated specification with the quotation. Have the installer identify the selected heating output, installation orientation and control arrangement in writing. A family maximum is not necessarily the rating of the unit supplied. Ask for the completed startup record and the current Canadian warranty certificate, including labour exclusions. This profile does not assign a failure-rate score or convert a warranty promise into evidence of longer life.
Cost, reliability & alternatives
Manufacturer Canada MAP ranges in the June 2026 workbook: GR9S96 standard variants 2,449–3,609; GR9T96 2,533–3,681; GRVT96 3,270–4,684; GRVM97 3,945–5,375. These are workbook price figures, currency not explicitly labelled in the examined table. They are equipment advertising references, not installed Canadian-dollar quotes; confirm currency and current applicability.
A lower quotation does not establish lower reliability, and a stronger warranty slogan does not establish fewer breakdowns. Request local parts availability, labour charges after the installation warranty, and measured setup results rather than relying on brand anecdotes.
