Goodman GR9T96
GR9T96 is a two-stage furnace with selectable ECM blower speeds. It should not be described as equivalent to the GRVT96 variable-speed ComfortBridge package. Both may be reasonable candidates, but the meaningful comparison is their actual control and airflow arrangements rather than the shared96 family label.

Capacity and installation fit
The manufacturer table includes 30,000–120,000 BTU/h input options. Its lowest reviewed row is 29,100 BTU/h high-fire output, giving a concrete small-capacity comparison point. A contractor still needs a load calculation and airflow review; availability of a small unit is not proof that it can serve every small dwelling or existing cooling system.
Compare the proposal, not just the badge
Canada MAP equipment figures span2,533–3,681 in the examined June 2026 workbook. Treat them as advertising-policy references, not promised retail transactions or complete installation totals. When comparing with a single-stage model, ask for the incremental two-stage price with all site work and labour coverage held constant.
Evidence to request before purchase
For the GR9T96, keep the complete suffix and the dated specification with the quotation. Have the installer identify the selected heating output, installation orientation and control arrangement in writing. A family maximum is not necessarily the rating of the unit supplied. Ask for the completed startup record and the current Canadian warranty certificate, including labour exclusions. This profile does not assign a failure-rate score or convert a warranty promise into evidence of longer life.
Cost, reliability & alternatives
Manufacturer Canada MAP ranges in the June 2026 workbook: GR9S96 standard variants 2,449–3,609; GR9T96 2,533–3,681; GRVT96 3,270–4,684; GRVM97 3,945–5,375. These are workbook price figures, currency not explicitly labelled in the examined table. They are equipment advertising references, not installed Canadian-dollar quotes; confirm currency and current applicability.
A lower quotation does not establish lower reliability, and a stronger warranty slogan does not establish fewer breakdowns. Request local parts availability, labour charges after the installation warranty, and measured setup results rather than relying on brand anecdotes.
