Conforto / Granby KLR
KLR is an oil-furnace family with a rear flue layout. Efficiency and output must be checked for the actual burner and firing combination.

Layout can explain a legitimate price difference
The KLR belongs in a replacement comparison where the existing oil system and rear flue arrangement are relevant. Ask the contractor to show the proposed path from furnace to vent and from cabinet to ductwork. A quote for a different cabinet form may require different fittings and labour. Those differences should be visible rather than compressed into a vague installation allowance.
Continued oil heating also involves the tank and fuel delivery system. Ask what was inspected, what will be retained and what remains outside the contractor’s scope. A new furnace is not evidence that every associated component is in acceptable condition.
The burner is part of the product definition
For KLR, obtain the burner model, firing rate and rated output in writing. A family maximum AFUE should not be assigned to an unidentified burner setting. If a different fuel conversion is suggested, ask for the listed configuration and a qualified installation proposal; this guide is not a conversion instruction.
The blower choice and any heat-pump or air-conditioning connection need separate documentation. Ask whether the quoted electrical consumption, airflow and controls apply to the offered motor, not to another option in the brochure.
Assess the ownership cost
Compare an installed KLR proposal with alternatives using the same heat requirement and realistic fuel assumptions. Include routine servicing, any vent or tank work and written labour coverage. Request the commissioning record and preserve it with the model documents. An unexplained premium deserves clarification and possibly a second opinion, while a cheap quote missing necessary system work should not be treated as the market price of a complete replacement.
Cost, reliability & alternatives
No verified, scope-complete Canadian installed price is assigned to this brand. Compare the exact equipment, labour, site alterations, commissioning, tax and warranty terms. A large unexplained gap between comparable written proposals warrants clarification and an independent second opinion.
Not numerically ranked: no comparable Canadian model-level failure-rate dataset was verified in this research.
