Amana AR9T96
AR9T96 offers two-stage heating with a multi-speed ECM blower. That description should remain intact in the comparison: an ECM motor is not automatically the same control type as the variable-speed ComfortBridge model higher in the catalog. A quotation that only says high-efficiency Amana leaves the buyer unable to distinguish these options.

Use the document’s dimensions or technical-data section. On a phone, the original PDF link may be easier to read. This is a manufacturer document, not an installation instruction from this guide.
Capacity and installation fit
Use the full-model NRCan input and output records below as a cross-check, then ask for the matching manufacturer submittal. Where the catalog headline and individual rating differ, the installer should identify the applicable revision and certificate. Do not calculate the output simply by multiplying input by the family’s advertised maximum AFUE.
Compare the proposal, not just the badge
Ask for the incremental cost over a single-stage proposal with the same installation design. If the sales case is reduced temperature swings, have the installer explain the thermostat and staging arrangement. Any comparison with a modulating Amana should also show the control, labour and warranty differences rather than presenting one unexplained price gap.
Evidence to request before purchase
For the AR9T96, keep the complete suffix and the dated specification with the quotation. Have the installer identify the selected heating output, installation orientation and control arrangement in writing. A family maximum is not necessarily the rating of the unit supplied. Ask for the completed startup record and the current Canadian warranty certificate, including labour exclusions. This profile does not assign a failure-rate score or convert a warranty promise into evidence of longer life.
Cost, reliability & alternatives
Amana states that installed pricing depends on the home and does not offer a universal MSRP. No verified primary Canadian installed-price schedule was found. Compare dated, itemized local quotations and identify the equipment generation.
Stainless-steel heat-exchanger construction and diagnostic features are relevant specifications. They do not establish a comparative Canadian failure rate. The practical reliability discussion should include local technician familiarity, parts sourcing and who pays labour during a warranty claim.
