Amana furnace comparisons should use current AR and AD family names alongside the complete warranty certificate. Older AM and AC product pages can remain searchable, so a familiar model name on a quotation may describe a different generation from the one in the current catalog.

Canadian evidence
Manufacturer discusses Canadian installations and an ARVM97 certification record lists Canada; local family and capacity availability require confirmation.
Compare current models without merging generations
The reviewed catalog includes ARVM97 modulating, ARVT96 two-stage variable-speed and AR9T96 two-stage multi-speed furnaces. The corresponding AD names identify a different installation configuration. Do not convert one family into another by changing a letter in a spreadsheet; the manufacturer’s own table is the authority for that combination.
ARVM97 is documented at 97% AFUE in the current specification reviewed here. Older AMVM97 pages may advertise a different maximum. That does not make one document false: it may describe another model generation. It does mean that a quote saying only Amana 97 or Amana 98 is inadequate for an informed purchase.
Treat warranty language as a document question
Amana’s live product copy and older technical sheets used different warranty descriptions during this review. Rather than selecting the longest duration found online, ask the seller for the certificate that governs the exact unit, installation date, province and ownership situation. Have the seller identify parts, heat exchanger, unit replacement and labour separately.
A replacement remedy can still leave removal, installation, freight or other expenses. A heat-exchanger warranty does not mean that all furnace failures are covered. These distinctions should appear in the comparison before signing, especially when a proposal’s main sales argument is a lifetime label.
Put the premium into a measurable comparison
Compare an Amana quotation with another furnace at the same staging level and a similar documented output. Record the proposed thermostat, available fan settings and the installer’s plan to verify airflow. If the goal is quieter operation near a bedroom, ask about the duct and return paths as well as the cabinet.
The manufacturer does not publish a universal installed MSRP. A local written appraisal is therefore the useful price document. Request one lower-complexity option and one upgraded option using the same installation assumptions; that exposes what the comfort upgrade actually costs without assuming that every household needs the highest tier.
ARVM97 is the current Amana modulating family reviewed here, with a stainless-steel primary heat exchanger and equipment-based ComfortBridge controls. Its technical sheet specifies97% AFUE. Search results for an older AMVM97 may show different figures or warranty text, so the newer AR model should be identified explicitly in a quotation.
ARVT96 is Amana’s two-stage variable-speed choice in the reviewed catalog. It occupies a useful comparison point between basic staged heat and full modulation. The97.5% headline is a maximum; the complete capacity-specific table is necessary before comparing operating costs or making an eligibility claim.
AR9T96 offers two-stage heating with a multi-speed ECM blower. That description should remain intact in the comparison: an ECM motor is not automatically the same control type as the variable-speed ComfortBridge model higher in the catalog. A quotation that only says high-efficiency Amana leaves the buyer unable to distinguish these options.

Comparison basis
Amana states that installed pricing depends on the home and does not offer a universal MSRP. No verified primary Canadian installed-price schedule was found. Compare dated, itemized local quotations and identify the equipment generation.
Stainless-steel heat-exchanger construction and diagnostic features are relevant specifications. They do not establish a comparative Canadian failure rate. The practical reliability discussion should include local technician familiarity, parts sourcing and who pays labour during a warranty claim.
Evidence
Manufacturer specifications describe construction, controls and warranty terms. They do not supply comparable Canadian field-failure rates.
Limitations
No verified, model-controlled Canadian failure-rate dataset was found in this research. Warranty duration is not a reliability score.
