Frigidaire FG7TE-FS
The fixed-speed ECM version of FG7TE is a two-stage upflow family. Its detailed manufacturer sheet provides a stronger comparison basis than the Brilliance tier headline.

| Blower | Fixed-speed ECM |
| Input capacity, BTU/h | 35,000–115,000 high-stage input; exact size dependent |
| Rated output, BTU/h | 33,000–110,000 high-stage heating capacity in cited sheet |
| Cabinet dimensions | Widths 14.25, 17.5, 21 or 24.5 inches by cabinet; verify full drawing for exact model |
| Canadian availability | Canadian-market certification entries found; exact revision, supply and warranty require confirmation |
Family maxima and ranges are not the specification of every size. Obtain the complete model suffix, current output rating and dimensional drawing. Cabinet dimensions do not include all service clearances.

Read the size rows separately
The cited FG7TE sheet lists five high-stage inputs: 35,000, 60,000, 80,000, 100,000 and 115,000 Btu/h. Their listed high-stage heating capacities are 33,000, 58,000, 77,000, 96,000 and 110,000 Btu/h. These are separate manufacturer values, not an instruction to multiply AFUE by input and call that the certified output.
Each size has a corresponding low-stage input and output. Ask the contractor to show both stages against the load assessment. A two-stage label does not rescue a selection whose low output still greatly exceeds the home’s usual demand.
Why FS needs to remain in the quote
The sheet describes a fixed-speed ECM blower. That is distinct from the variable-speed option also marketed under FG7TE. A proposal that deletes the suffix makes it harder to tell which blower and performance table the installer is pricing. Keep the exact model and the cited sheet together.
The manufacturer provides airflow tables at different external static pressures and notes that published data are without a filter. Ask for an installation plan and commissioning record that account for the actual filter and coil. Do not convert the table into a homeowner fan-setting procedure.
Compare the installed package
The catalogue’s upflow designation is a real selection constraint. Have the contractor explain the air path and available service access rather than rotating a product image mentally to fit the basement. Cabinet width is only one part of the installed footprint.
For price comparison, separate this furnace’s premium from return-air, filter or vent modifications. Ask what measurable benefit distinguishes it from the proposed single-stage alternative. No Canadian field failure-rate ranking is assigned to this model; reliability should be discussed through installation records, applicable warranty and local service support.
Before authorizing the order
Keep the commissioning and registration responsibilities visible even in a straightforward replacement. Ask who supplies the completed startup information and how the owner receives warranty confirmation. These deliverables help compare installation services without inventing a technical superiority claim for the furnace itself.
Cost, reliability & alternatives
Obtain a dated, itemized Canadian-dollar quotation identifying the exact furnace, accessories, labour, venting, drainage, electrical work, removal, permits where applicable, tax and warranty obligations. Compare the same scope; an unexplained large gap warrants another qualified opinion.
No defensible numerical reliability rank assigned.
