Start with electrical capacity
The first sizing question for a Supreme Advantage is the required heating power in kW at the actual supply voltage. It is not enough to say that an electric furnace is efficient at turning electricity into heat. A qualified electrical assessment must establish whether the existing service and distribution can support the proposed load alongside the rest of the home. Ask for any electrical upgrade to be a separate quote line.
The manufacturer distinguishes ECM and PSC configurations and restricts PSC sales to Quebec. A Toronto proposal should therefore identify the actual motor version rather than relying on a general Supreme illustration.
Compare resistance heat with the complete alternative
If the alternative is a heat pump with backup resistance, ask how much of the seasonal heating each component is expected to provide under stated assumptions. A resistance furnace can have a straightforward heat-producing process while still carrying a substantial electricity bill. Compare annual energy on the same heat requirement and local tariff, and label the estimate as a scenario rather than a guaranteed bill.
The duct and blower assessment remains necessary. Existing oil or gas ductwork may be reusable in part, but reuse should be inspected and specified. Include filtration, cooling plans and a clear place to record airflow measurements.
What to obtain in writing
The proposal should identify rated kW, voltage, motor, thermostat and any heat-pump interface. Request documentation of the approved configuration and a handover that explains normal controls without inviting the owner into electrical compartments. Ask who supplies replacement elements and controls, what labour coverage applies, and what happens if the installer is unavailable. These questions are more useful than an unsupported claim that an electric furnace cannot fail because it has no burner.
Cost, reliability & alternatives
No verified, scope-complete Canadian installed price is assigned to this brand. Compare the exact equipment, labour, site alterations, commissioning, tax and warranty terms. A large unexplained gap between comparable written proposals warrants clarification and an independent second opinion.
