Dettson AMP
AMP is Dettson’s high-profile oil-furnace family. The burner and firing configuration need to be included in any efficiency or output comparison.

Family maxima and ranges are not the specification of every size. Obtain the complete model suffix, current output rating and dimensional drawing. Cabinet dimensions do not include all service clearances.
Manufacturer pictures & technical drawings
Exact cabinet drawing was not verified for this profile. Use the manufacturer sources below and request the selected model’s current dimensional sheet before ordering.
Compare the full oil-heating installation
The AMP selection begins with a house that is considering continued oil heat. Ask whether the existing tank, fuel supply and venting arrangements remain suitable and include their assessment in the scope. The furnace cabinet alone cannot define the cost of retaining an oil system. If a fuel change is also being considered, obtain a separate complete proposal so that removal and conversion work are not hidden in one option.
This high-profile format can matter where ceiling height, floor space and the position of the existing plenum constrain replacement. Have the contractor show the planned duct connection and maintenance access. A cabinet that resembles the old unit is not automatically a direct replacement.
Firing rate and blower must be identified
The published maximum AFUE for AMP is a family description, not a promise for every burner and firing rate. Ask for the rated output, the selected burner and the documented performance of that combination. Comparing two oil proposals without these details can turn an apparently simple efficiency contest into a comparison of different installations.
Blower type also belongs in the record. Its electrical consumption and cooling suitability are distinct from oil combustion efficiency. Ask what is included for any existing cooling coil, filter cabinet or heat-pump connection and which components will be reused.
Service economics are part of the purchase
For an AMP quote, request the routine service scope and the availability of the selected burner’s consumables and replacement components. Keep the first commissioning record as a baseline for later maintenance. A contractor should explain any substantial cost premium through inspected work, coverage or a meaningful specification difference. Obtain a second opinion if those explanations leave a large gap between otherwise comparable proposals.
Cost, reliability & alternatives
No verified, scope-complete Canadian installed price is assigned to this brand. Compare the exact equipment, labour, site alterations, commissioning, tax and warranty terms. A large unexplained gap between comparable written proposals warrants clarification and an independent second opinion.
Not numerically ranked: no comparable Canadian model-level failure-rate dataset was verified in this research.
