YORK’s familiar name now sits within Bosch Home Comfort’s residential business. A useful Canadian comparison includes both the established YP9C and TM9V families and newer Y92E equipment, while making the model generation and Canadian supply evidence explicit.

Canadian evidence
Canadian distributor literature and current product line card establish a Canadian furnace offering; exact new-generation supply must be confirmed.
Current ownership does not change the nameplate
Bosch confirmed the migration of YORK residential product information to its own web domain in August 2026 after the 2025 acquisition. Older documents can still carry Johnson Controls identification. Keep those documents attached to the model they describe rather than assuming that a new corporate owner changes an existing furnace’s specification.
Canadian Master literature identifies YORK furnaces, but a historical brochure is not a live inventory list. Ask the dealer to confirm which family and revision is being supplied. If an older model is offered, request its warranty and parts pathway in writing instead of treating age of literature alone as a defect.
Compare three different equipment choices
YP9C is the reviewed modulating choice, TM9V is a two-stage variable-speed family, and Y92E is a newer two-stage family with a standard five-speed ECM blower. Calling the last two simply two-stage furnaces loses a significant airflow distinction. The comparison should retain both burner and blower descriptions.
The Y92E product page includes US incentive language. That is not a Toronto rebate entitlement. Determine Canadian eligibility using the exact model and the applicable current program, and keep that check separate from the basic AFUE and sizing comparison.
Assess a quote that names YORK
Request the high-fire output beside a calculated heat-loss requirement and have the contractor explain why the selected capacity is appropriate. The familiar 33-inch cabinet height on several YORK families does not include every connected component or the space needed to service it. Ask for a measured installation sketch when the basement is tight.
YORK’s dollar-symbol price tiers are relative marketing categories, not Canadian installed prices. A useful appraisal separates the furnace, controls, vent route, return changes and labour commitment. When two quotes have an unexplained gap after the scope is reconciled, get another independent written view rather than treating a premium badge as a sufficient explanation.
YP9C is the established YORK Affinity modulating furnace family. The manufacturer describes adjustment in small increments and variable-speed airflow. Those are functional specifications, not proof that every house will achieve a particular comfort improvement. The household’s distribution problems and selected capacity still need an appraisal.
Y92E is a newer YORK two-stage97% family with a standard five-speed ECM blower. This is an important distinction from a variable-speed Y92V or older TM9V proposal. The manufacturer page’s references to US25C incentives should not be interpreted as a Canadian rebate offer.
TM9V is the established two-stage variable-speed YORK family documented in Canadian distributor literature. It remains useful when reviewing an installed furnace or a quotation for that generation. Current catalog changes mean the buyer should ask whether the offer is current production or available earlier-generation stock.

Comparison basis
The manufacturer uses relative price symbols rather than a complete Canadian installed total. Historical Canadian distributor lists are not current homeowner quotations. Obtain a dated itemized local price and avoid importing US tax-credit claims.
No model-controlled Canadian failure-rate dataset was found for a defensible YORK-versus-competitor ranking. Diagnostic and modulation features describe capability. Local commissioning and future service arrangements remain separate evidence to collect.
Evidence
Manufacturer specifications describe construction, controls and warranty terms. They do not supply comparable Canadian field-failure rates.
Limitations
No verified, model-controlled Canadian failure-rate dataset was found in this research. Warranty duration is not a reliability score.
