Paradigm 2G
Paradigm 2G is documented on Kerr’s Canadian product site. Exact current capacities, dimensions and performance should come from the quoted model’s current submittal.
Kerr appears in Canadian oil-furnace research through Paradigm and replacement-system literature. Treat distributor availability and the exact current model as questions to settle before using historical brochures.

Kerr is a useful name to investigate where an owner already has oil heat and local trades regularly work through its distribution channel. A less nationally visible brand should not be excluded solely on name recognition. Conversely, a distributor webpage does not identify the exact cabinet waiting for shipment. Ask for the current model, manufacturer, burner and specification sheet attached to the quote.
Older Kerr names and literature remain in circulation. They can help identify existing equipment, but they should not be combined into a fictional current range. The model plate on an old furnace and the model offered for replacement need separate entries in the customer’s record.
Start by documenting the tank, vent route, duct layout and the reason for replacement. Ask what the installer inspected and which associated components remain outside the scope. A furnace replacement may be straightforward, or it may expose other work that materially changes the economics of retaining oil. Those findings should be written before a price comparison is treated as final.
If a gas or electric conversion is also proposed, compare complete projects. The new fuel supply, electrical capacity, tank retirement and changes to distribution can be more important than the difference between two bare furnaces. A contractor should explain these costs without using a broad efficiency claim to bypass the discussion.
A manufacturer or distributor may illustrate large savings against an older system. The homeowner needs to know what baseline, fuel price and usage assumptions produce the example. Ask for an estimate based on the same indoor conditions and house load used for the alternatives, and preserve uncertainty where the old equipment’s actual performance is unknown.
For ownership, identify the service provider, parts source and written labour coverage. Ask for burner and furnace commissioning records after installation. A large gap between comparable bids can be a signal to seek another explanation, but it is not by itself proof of overcharging. Use photos, measurements and a common written scope to make the second opinion meaningful.

| Comparison basis | No verified, scope-complete Canadian installed price is assigned to this brand. Compare the exact equipment, labour, site alterations, commissioning, tax and warranty terms. A large unexplained gap between comparable written proposals warrants clarification and an independent second opinion. |

| Assessment | Not numerically ranked: no comparable Canadian model-level failure-rate dataset was verified in this research. |
|---|---|
| Evidence | Manufacturer documentation can establish design, service provisions and written coverage; it does not establish an observed probability of failure. |
| Limitations | Installation conditions, exact model generation, maintenance history and local parts support must be assessed separately. |
